Widow Maker Black Widow crosses paths with Hawkeye, Mockingbird and a new Ronin in Widow Maker

Before they were superheroes, Natasha Romanoff and Bobbi Morse were two of the Marvel Universe’s top espionage agents. As the Black Widow Romanoff’s masters in Soviet Intelligence enhanced her physical abilities and sent her to America where she ran afoul of Iron Man on several occasions. In a couple of those instances, she manipulated Clint Barton in his costumed identity of Hawkeye into attacking Iron Man. Hawkeye was later given a chance to make up for his villainous acts by becoming an Avenger. When she broke free from her Soviet masters, The Widow was also offered a chance to repent by becoming both an Avenger and a freelance operative of S.H.I.E.L.D. Bobbi Morse was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who created her Mockingbird identity as a way of exposing corruption in the ranks of the organization.

This December and January, the ghosts of Hawkeye, Mockingbird and the Widow’s pasts will come back to haunt them when their two titles cross over for a storyline titled “Widow Maker.” The crossover which begins in “Hawkeye & Mockingbird” #7 and then continues in “Black Widow #9. - Via Comic Book Resources

They say youth is wasted on the young, but in the case of Marvel Comics Young Avengers franchise, keeping the teenage versions of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in high school has been a boon for getting more stories into the Marvel U. Since their introduction in 2005, Wiccan, Patriot, Hulking and the rest of the next generation heroes have kept a stable foot in the publisher’s biggest events even as fans of that first book have waited for co-creators Allan Heinberg and Jimmy Cheung to return to the team full time.

When the kids in Avengers Academy go through a “Scared Straight” program, who better to oversee it than the Thunderbolts?
Exploring an idea from the mind of Ed Brubaker, Academy writer Christos Gage and Thunderbolts scribe Jeff Parker are teaming up beginning in August for a three-issue crossover that sends the Academy kids into The Raft for a “Scared Straight” program courtesy of the Thunderbolts.

And because things don’t always go as planned, an imprisoned Norman Osborn ends up getting involved, dredging up memories of how he captured and tortured members of the Academy.

The crossover, which features art by Mike McKone and Kev Walker, kicks off in Avengers Academy #3, crossing over into Thunderbolts #147, then finishing in Avengers Academy #4.
